Pride is a really nice feeling.

I think it’s a particularly nice feeling when it’s not your own achievements you’re proud of, but someone else’s β€” not self-satisfaction, but admiration and delight at something you have some connection to. Putting it that way makes it sound like a selfish sort of pride, but maybe that’s okay. I hope that’s okay.

This is the feeling I get when something extra fantastic comes out of Tasmania. I’m sure it’s not specific to my little home state, but it feels extra strong down there β€” maybe because for so many years we’ve felt like the underdogs; the behind-the-times uncle; the two-headed sibling that nobody ever talks about and doesn’t really associate with the rest of the family. We were the state the cool kids moved away from, not the one the cool kids traveled to.
Then MONA turned the tables and suddenly made us interesting, and people started noticing our award-winning produce, restaurants and tourist spots. We were always beautiful, but now we’ve also become cool and cultured. We’re not just a state of elderly couples in camper vans any more! We have hipster backpackers now too!

So this is the feeling I get (along with homesickness) when something cool and Tasmanian comes along. Overwhelming selfish pride and excitement.

This is Alice: the best coffee scrub ever.

It’s fair trade, 100% natural, nourishing, and smells delicious. Like, oh my god delicious. I admit to having a bit of a thing for everything coffee, but Alice has a spicy, earthy coffee aroma β€” not super strong or overpowering at all. Even the cat climbed up and had a bit of a face lick. He seemed to enjoy it.

She comes beautifully packaged in a waterproof, resealable brown paper bag. The branding is killer β€” I love a design that is so obviously well thought out and conceptualised.

Alice has a real story behind her; a sort of dark, natural wanderlust that’s established throughout the stunning packaging, branding, and photography.

As well as looking and smelling great, Alice is a wonderland of goodness for your skin. It stimulates, strengthens, tightens, relieves and moisturises, and is great for helping with fine lines, eczema, dark circles, acne and psoriasis. With a winning combination of oils, spices, salts, and coffee there are far too many good things to list, but head on over to the website for the full list of benefits.

Now me, I have the ultimate sensitive skin. I’m whiter than a polar bear (do you like how my skin just sort of fades into the background in that picture there?) The sun gives me some mild freckles β€” fine β€” and then a deep red burn β€” less fine β€” after around six minutes. I get some pretty excellent dry flaky fun on my poor face, especially in winter, and anything scented makes my skin break out. Perfumes, moisturisers, the lot.

Not Alice! I have found my new BFF. Sorry, human BFFs. And cat.

Like what you’re hearing? Ready to try it for yourself? Alice is available both online via their website and at a few select stockists. The coffee scrub comes in two sizes, and there’s a brand new foot scrub to try too!

Please do let me know if you’ve given Alice a go, or are planning to β€” I’d love to hear your own thoughts!
